We bought this fantastic KRK 6.5" Woofer, it has the bass response of a much larger woofer, pushing a weak 10" or high end 8" woofer. No lie, no hype, this little KRK 6.5" woofer Kicks Bass.
KRK is known for their studio monitors, so came the question what could I Design to get the most out of this KRK 6.5" woofer. The goal in this design and component kit, was to put together a World Class Studio Reference Monitor. I think we nailed it.
The sound is warm and rich, with a bass response well beyond the 6 1/2" woofers size. If I had to use one word to describe this little speaker design, it would be WONDERFUL.
Anyone who has dealt with me before knows that I'm not prone to inflating a speakers performance to just make a sale.
Simple fact about me, and my companies outlook on these speaker designs. If they don't sound good, we don't sell them. I don't listen to crappy speakers, and neither should you.
Bang for buck you will not find a better speaker design in the world. In total, this little kit will cost you some where in the $140.00 range, including these components and the materials needed to build the cabinets.
Now this will vary depending on what you use for the cabinets and how they are finished. As you can see, they are not expensive, but they will sound like it. Building something like the proof of concept pictured above left would put you right at that $140.00 price mark for the pair. The final plans are a bit different than the proof of concept where I began.
That small price and your time, will net you a set of World Class Studio Reference Monitors. You can expect a rich clear range of sound from about 33Hz. to beyond 20kHz.
All this in a small book case size.
Perfect for the bed room, game room, movie room, den, family room, your video center and yes your recording studio. Small and fairly compact you will swear that you are listening to a speaker system twice this size. Close your eyes and just listen, better still enjoy the wonderful sound of these speakers.
